How it works
Inside our hydroponic systems
These are the building blocks of a hydroponic greenhouse. NFT channels run a thin film of nutrient solution under leafy greens; deep water culture floats rafts on an aerated bed; Dutch buckets hold vining crops in substrate; tidal (ebb-and-flow) benches flood and drain seedling trays from below.
Channels and troughs are made from food-grade, UV-stabilized PVC in square and flat profiles; rolling benches use hot-dip galvanized frames with recirculating trays. Sponge cubes and nursery plugs start seedlings that move straight into the system.
Who they're for: Commercial greenhouses, nurseries and propagation operations, and integrators building turnkey hydroponic farms.
NFT
A shallow, continuous flow of solution runs along sloped channels; roots sit in the film and get oxygen from the air above.
DWC
Plants float on rafts over an aerated tank, buffering temperature and nutrient swings.
Dutch buckets
Each bucket holds substrate for one or two plants and drains to a shared return line.
Tidal benches
Benches flood from below on a timer, then drain completely, watering every tray evenly.
FAQ
Hydroponic systems: common questions
Can't find your answer? Our engineers reply within one business day.
Ask a questionWhich hydroponic system is best for lettuce?
NFT and deep water culture are the usual choices for lettuce and other leafy greens. NFT uses less water in the system and is easy to harvest; DWC buffers temperature and power interruptions better. Our NFT vs DWC vs Dutch bucket guide compares them in detail.
Can channels be cut to my greenhouse length?
Yes. Channels and troughs are produced in standard profiles and cut to the lengths in your layout, with end caps, inlets and drains supplied to match.
Are the materials food-safe?
Channels and troughs are made from food-grade PVC with UV stabilizers for greenhouse use. Ask for the material data sheet with your quotation if your market requires it.
What is a tidal seedling bench?
A tidal or ebb-and-flow bench floods with nutrient solution from below for a few minutes, then drains back to the tank. Seedlings take up water evenly without overhead spray, which keeps leaves dry and reduces disease.
